HOW TO GET STARTED

Step 1: Read our Facilitator’s Guide for each curricula. This will give an overview of the cases and how to facilitate the session.

Step 2: Download materials for your selected case.

Step 3: Review the materials for your case including “Presentation Notes” when PowerPoints are included.

Step 4: Teach and have fun!

Step 5: Complete survey. At the end of each PowerPoint is a short 5 minute online survey. There is one for participants and one for the presenter. This is the only ask we have for using our curriculum. We are studying and improving our materials all the time and ask that you please save time for the survey at the end of the course.

Simulated QI Project

What is it: This 3-part curriculum simulates a QI project using Lean methodology. It can be used as a stand-alone comprehensive introduction to QI or as a primer for trainees embarking on QI projects to demonstrate the steps necessary for a successful project. Uses a combination of didactics and web-based activities using real-life data to demonstrate QI methodology. To foster resident engagement three “Choose your own adventure” options are available for learners to create different projects and get differing outcomes.

Time: 3 sessions, 60 minutes each

What is it: This interactive didactic uses videos, reflections and activities to introduce the basics of Quality Improvement, LEAN and Model for Improvement methodology. Also includes activities on SMART aims, outcome/process/balancing measures, and change concepts.

QI-Evidence based medicine critical appraisal Tool

What is it: Help trainees understand how to use evidence based medicine to appraise quality improvement literature. This workshop can be paired with review of any QI article. Begin by understanding the differences between QI and Traditional Medical Research. Then use our QI-EBM-CAT worksheet to breakdown a QI article into components and evaluate each section.

Time: 60 minutes

Teaching Modality: In-person, synchronous videoconferencing, or asynchronous module.
